 Job Spec for Assistant General Manager:

McCann Roofing Products Ltd is part of Brickability Group PLC and one of the country’s leading suppliers of roofing products. Established in 1993, and based in Essex, McCann Roofing Products has over 25 years of experience in distributing roofing tiles in the UK. 

We are specialists in importing and distributing natural and manmade building products with experience and emphasis on clay and concrete roof tiles and natural and fibre cement slate. Our people are engrained in the industry and are passionate about what we do. We pride ourselves on our knowledge and experience and are pleased to share this with our customers. 

As part of our continued success, we are looking to expand our existing experienced team and are looking for a motivated and proactive Assistant General Manager. This is a newly created position and requires someone with an understanding of building supplies preferably within a roofing, building or similar trades background, however, we would consider candidates from outside the building sector with the relevant skills.

Job Description

• Sales/Management administrative experience.

• Assist the General Manager in the day-to-day running of the business.

• Comfortable in quoting and inputting orders on to the computer system.

• Logistical experience, to be able to liaise with our hauliers and manage customer expectations.

• An excellent and professional telephone manner and confidence in dealing with customers and suppliers over the phone.

• Ability to up-sell orders and maximise business potential whilst satisfying customer requirements.

• Face-to-face customer sales within the office and the yard.

• A good understanding of Microsoft programmes and able to understand and use spreadsheets.

• Customer friendly and always aiming to deliver high levels of customer service.

The Successful Applicant

• The ability to manage the team as and when required.

• Ideally experienced in sales to the building industry (particularly roofing).

• Have good product knowledge (can be taught company specifics).

• Customer service experience.

• Make proactive sales calls to new and existing customers to secure new business.

• A willing team player with the ability to use their own initiative.

• The ability to resolve customer queries and offer solutions to their requirements.

What's on Offer

• A salary negotiable based on experience.

• Working hours of Monday to Friday 8.00am - 5.00pm.

• You will be allocated free on-site parking.

• You will have 21 days Holiday (plus bank holidays)
